Bipasha Basu has been secretly working on her "pet passion" for the last few months. Her fitness video -- The Fit And The Fabulous -- hits stores this Thursday. Here, the actress talks about her dream project.
It's been a lot of hard work and effort for me. I love working out but sometimes I can't pull out one hour of exercising. The video is for those who are too shy to go to the gym or can't afford it or like working mothers who are struggling with time. It's not some Bollywood actress's pastime. It is my baby and completely my effort. Everything from the creatives to choosing the right pictures, post-production, marketing and script has been mine. It's a brand initiative. The DVD won't be just a one-step video. I will be getting involved in the entire brand of fitness -- from fashion to food. I have several plans.

In fact, I have to thank Mid-Day for putting my life back on track. Six years ago, Mid-Day had written an article saying "Bips becomes fat". It actually opened my eyes. I had put on weight during Jism and Gunaah and my boyfriend used to say that I was the hottest thing on earth, so I never thought I was fat. But I had to be brutally honest to myself. I really appreciate what the paper wrote and I used what Mid-Day wrote positively and put myself on the health track. It must have been difficult initially... in the beginning, I made lots of mistakes. I would use ankle inclines and weights and injured my knee. Then I realised that I need to understand this medium of health and fitness. I started travelling and interacting with trainers. Today, I understand fitness. Any kind of physical activity is like meditation or praying for me. -- I follow fitness like a religion. I love and respect my body and don't share that one hour in a day with anybody -- it's kept aside only for my workouts. Everything that keeps me healthy and active, excites me.
Tell me about the fitness video.
It gives you a 25-minute workout and has a beginners level for 30 days and advanced level for 30 days. People should do the workout that helps in fat loss and muscle toning six times a week. It will take about three days to understand the form. Since I can't monitor people personally, the workouts differs from individual to individual, but it's important that they also follow a balanced and moderate diet with vitamins, minerals, carbs and proteins. You can't have fried stuff and expect miracles in 30 days. I will also be having the launch of the video website soon.
You have been working on this for the last few months?
The beginners level took some time as I had to do with others. It took me eight months of research and trying the workouts on different people to see the results. I want to thank people who encouraged me when I shared the idea with them, and then made this video possible. When I told John, he was blown away by the concept. My friend Deanne Pandey, a fitness expert was also a big help. Rocky S has done my music video and so, many friends have contributed free of cost. Big stars like Mr Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh, Priyanka, John, Dhoni, Akshay, Ajay and Ranbir Kapoor have endorsed the video.

... Yes. It's called Baby Love Yourself and has been directed by Soham Shah. It's a philosophy I have been following for the last six years. I love the 5 F's in my life -- films, fitness, fashion, family and friends but the emphasis is on loving yourself. I am releasing it a week before Valentine's Day because it's about loving yourself and on that day we love others but we tend to lose focus on ourselves. After the release of my first one, I plan to have new ones with updated techniques maybe coming every six months.
Is it affordable?
Yes, because I am looking at the masses and classes. It's a bilingual -- Hindi and English as I want people at the grass root level to get it. The DVD is cost effective and if someone can't afford it they can buy the VCD. I will also be launching my own fitness line. Outfits for working out can be very fashionable, sexy and be the right gear. The BB Love Yourself line will launched in March. People are confused about what is thin and being fit -- it's about being fit and being able to a million things in a day without fainting.
Sexiest woman of Bollywood, Bipasha Basu has said that Sharukh Khan has one of the best butts in Bollywood. Bipasha, who is considered to be a fitness freak, recently launched her fitness DVD.
Bipasha, talking about best butts in Bollywood, says “John has the best butt, and everyone has seen it too.” Interestingly she took King Khan's name and boldly said “I think even Shah Rukh Khan has one of the best butts around.”
'Striker' has become the first Bollywood film to be premiered overseas on YouTube.
The movie, produced by The Indian Film Company in association with Studio 18, hit screens on 5 February in India and released simultaneously on You Tube.
The makers of the film insist that the free-of-charge release on the video sharing website aims to reach the audience in a "cost-effective manner".
"This is a redefining moment," the BBC News quoted Studio 18 director Hemant Bhardwaj.
He added: "The success of this project will put wings to our films, which are rich in content but unable to find optimal distribution abroad because they don't feature the conventional stars."

After superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, actress Vidya Balan has come out in defense of the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots, saying that it does not encourage students to commit suicide.
"The film 3 Idiots gives out a message to the society that the rat race for higher grades has no meaning in life and the important thing is acquiring knowledge," Balan who is in Indore to promote her film Ishqiya told reporters.
She said that suicide depicted in the film is not a "suggestion", but a "reflection of the society". Balan said that it is a matter of concern that large number of students commit suicide due to the pressure of studies.
"They end their lives at an age they should start dreaming about it," she said.

May be Vidya Balan’s magic must have first happened to work upon the Censor Board before getting into effect with the public. Such a kind of thing is rare in Bollywood, though finally the film was certified as ‘A’.
Well atleast a limitation has been measured for the film, which surely does not suit the sense of those below ‘A’. Finally Arshad Warsi,Vidya Balan and Naseruddin Shah starrer has come out clean.
The director Abhishek Chaubhey to his surprise added, “Frankly, I expected I'd be asked for some kind of an explanation for the language and content and why they were necessary. I had gone prepared with dossiers on every graphic word and shot. To my surprise, I wasn't asked for any explanation. I was given an 'Adults' certificate with no cuts at all. I guess it's a sign of how far censorship has come in our country.”
The film depicts about life in Uttar Pradesh and the way which people in the small North Indian towns live their life according to the director.
Keeping this to perspective the director was not harassed with further questions and he added, “ So I didn’t have problem of receiving the ‘A’ certificate. However he clarifies that the language is not as bold as it is assumed and also isn’t about creating shock value either. It's the way the people in the small North Indian towns live their life..”
The film produced by Raman Maroo and Vishal Bharadwaj and ‘Ishqiya’ is to release soon on Jan 29.
Well it not Abhishek is suprised that Censor Board did not ran their scissors upon the bold and expletives steamy scenes and gave him a 'A' Certificate instead, remaining cool with the content.

Reveals a production source, “Salman bhai, Tinu Verma and Bharat Dhabolkar would go for long rides post shooting hours. Even though he was tired by the end of the day, he would always dash away on his horse. “
“It is not easy handling a horse. It required great strength and physical stamina and Salman bhai was in top shape and would enjoy riding thoroughly. Post shooting all the actors were so relieved to get off their horses but not Salman,” signs off the source.

It's soon going to be officially celebrated as the only film in the world featuring the father-son duo reversing their real-life roles for the screen.
Real-life father and son Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan are all set to enter the Guinness Book Of World Records for being the only father-son acting duo to have played reversed roles on screen in Paa. It's also the only instance of a 67-year old actor playing a 12-year old child and a 31-year old actress playing mother to a 67-year-old actor.
Director Balki admits Paa is pretty much a hotbed of unprecedented occurrences. "You know, while casting and all through the shooting, I never sat back to consider the uniqueness of the casting. It was only the people all around me who seemed to be constantly conscious of the casting oddity. To me Amitji, Abhishek and Vidya were playing the roles I had in mind for them from the start. But now, I do see that the casting is exceptional. It hasn't been done in any part of the world. So yes, plans are afoot to enter Paa into the Guinness book in various categories."
The necessary moves have already been made and Balki would make sure that Paa gets noticed in the right categories as soon as release of the film is out of the way.
After Paa, he plans to take a bit of a vacation
and let his wife Gauri Shinde direct a film for his production house.
"Gauri has been a part of my creative processes for many years now. We got married two years back. The film she wants to make is very different from what I do. Her script has a flavour that's totally removed from mine."
None of the Bachchans are likely to figure in Balki's wife's directorial debut. But Balki intends to make his third film with the Bachchans, this time making sure that Mrs Jaya Bachchan too has a part.

The newest stud in Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor, is merely four films old, but he is already being compared to the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan.
Well this comparison comes easy, as Ranbir does romantic scene with as much ease as the suave Shahrukh Khan, who is a veteran in enacting romantic scenes.
When we asked Ranbir about this, he said, “I think comparing me with Shahrukh Khan would be like insulting him. Till now, I have done only 3 films, which are by no ways a parameter to compare me with him. In my last film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani I have played a romantic character, where in Rocket Singh –Salesman of the Year there is romance, but on a different level.”
Well however hard Ranbir might try to deny, the fact remains that people like him in romantic roles, as he sure is a charmer! No doubt Ranbir must be happy to be compared with Shahrukh, after all it is SRK who is the benchmark of success in Bollywood these days.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has retained the top spot in an annual list of the world's 50 sexiest Asian women unveiled on Friday.
The Bollywood babe beat off tough competition from other actresses, former beauty queens, models and pop stars to hold on to the Eastern Eye crown she won last year.
Indian actresses took eight of the top 10 spots, with British television star Laila Rouass and Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat completing the list.

It was a day of pure frenzy on the last and final day of the Lux Perfect Bride. There was a complete mood of a lavish wedding to take place, and the entire nation was on a guessing spree that who would be the lucky girl to get the coveted title of becoming the First everPerfect Bride in the history of Indian Television.
The day began with much activity as there was a lot to be done in the house. Everyone was dressed in wedding finery and the mood had already been set for something very auspicious to take place.

As everyone assembled in the hall, with the three special guests Shekhar Suman, Malaika Arora Khan and Amrita Rao, who all looked ravishing as the people to bless the couples.
Then, the moment arrived for the brides to be, to come down and as they did everyone was mesmerized at the beautiful sight that the brides projected.
There were many performances like Rakhi Sawant’s performance and Malaika Arora Khan’s performance which made all sit up with even more enthusiasm for the forth coming events. There was a small funny commentary by Baby Saloni who made all laugh with her antics.

The couple was given the winning amount of Rs 25 lakhs.
Then she was given the pair of gold bangles by the show organizers. Hitesh’s mother made her wear the bangles. Then the marriage ceremony was performed with a lot of enthusiasm with all the guests blessing the couple.
So, history had been created with the couple being wedded in front of the entire nation’s eyes, albeit through the camera. All blessings were showered on the couple andit was a moment of pure celebration as everyone was happy for the newly wedded couple.
